Czech Greenkeepers Association
Czech Greenkeepers Association was founded in1999, and it currently has 180 members. A big part of the membership is the greenkeepers from Slovakia, which illustrates the close relationship between the two countries.
The Czech Greenkeepers Association organise an annual conference each year in February, along with also organising a two day seminar each year. They also hold each year a small show where manufacturers are able to exhibit and talk about their product and services.
Each autumn they organise a two day seminar called “Winterschool for Turfgrass Managers” With this seminar programme we closely cooperate with Czech Republic’s two major agriculture universities in Prague and Brno.
The Czech Greenkeepers Association are the official authority to issue the certificate of professional qualification “greenkeeper” recognised by the Czech government, and the golf industry. They cooperate with 7 agriculture middle schools on education of greenkeepers, producing moodle based materials for self studying and self examining in greenkeeping.
They publish printed learning materials for the studying of greenkeeping, these being produced with the support of the European social fund.
A magazine “GREEN” is published four times in year, incorporating professional articles, and the latest news from greenkeeping.
An annual golf tournament for greenkeepers is organised, this year being held at Golf Club Brno – Kaskada. Along with the tournament there is also a series of presentations given by their Patrons.
Each year they run exams of professional qualification “greenkeeper” also with a practical week of greenkeeping, held before the exam. They cooperate with a horticulture school in Prague on the requalification course “basics of greenkeeping”, supported by unemployment office of the Czech government, which when completed each student is awarded a certificate.
